Our hearts are heavy this week. At Zenit, our vision is a world where everyone can be well. This means a world where members of our Black community can exist in peace, without being being systematically targeted, terrorized, and traumatized. Our hearts go out to the families of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. Our hearts go out to all victims of police brutality. Our hearts go out to members of our Black community who experience the trauma from systemic racism daily.
To our Black community, you are not alone. We see you. We hear you. We love you. We will continue to do our part to demand justice. Your lives matter. Your healing matters. You right to safety, justice, and wellness matter.
To our non-Black allies, I invite us to take time to reflect on what's happening, and to embrace our role as allies. It might feel uncomfortable to fully confront the stark racism and injustice prevalent in our own backyards. But I implore us to lean into that discomfort, so we can move through and process our feelings, whether they be guilt or fear or both, so that we can open our hearts to be there for our Black brothers and sisters, to listen, to understand, to empathize, to stand with them, and to take action with them.
We are all in this together. We will rest, and we will keep moving forward, one step at a time, to build a more just and well world for all.
